Mr. Carl "Doc" Young

This was Mr. Young in 1966, shortly after he became Principal of CHS, following Mr. Rexford Plymale's retirement

Here, Mr. Young reviews the morning announcements with Miss Bonnie Binford, 11th grade English Teacher.  Mr. Young later left CHS and became an Associate Superintendent, at the Kanawha County Central Office.  Mr. James Morris (pictured below) became Principal.

Our Vice-Principal

Mr. Ernest Husson

This was Mr. Husson in 1965.  At this time he was a Guidance Councilor.  He became Vice-Principal after the 1966 school year, when Mr. Rex Plymale retired.  Mr. Husson left CHS in 1971 to become Principal at Carver Vocational School.

Mr. Husson demonstrates his ability to balance a gift vertically, using only one hand.  Mr. James Morris, Coach Jim Jarrett, and Mr. Carl "Doc" Young had already performed this event.  Mr. Young eventually won the competition by a slim margin and was once again Principal of the school. ;-)

Here's Mr. Ernie Husson today.  Mr. Husson refuses to relax during his retirement.  He has spent numerous hours doing volunteer work, plus using his experience as an educator, for the benefit of others.  Mr. Husson was also a Charleston High School graduate.

Trivia:  Mr. Husson and Mrs. Clower graduated in the same year, from CHS.

Our Mrs. Bea Clower poses with her granddaughter (and daughter of our classmate, Susan Clower Johnson), Lindsay Davis  in a recent graduation ceremony at Arizona State University.  Mrs. Clower kept track of us at the Attendance Office.  Mrs. Clower, honest .... that really was my Dad's signature on that excuse ... honest! ;-)

Mrs. Clower at work in 1965.  Give it up, fella!  You're busted and don't even know it.  She'll probably let you get by this time and won't even let you know she's on to you.  Look at those eyes!  She knows!

Mrs. Clower "gettin' down" on the keyboards.  I wish
we could play the sound track here.  The song is still
stuck in my head.  Mary had a little lamb ... little lamb
little lamb.  Mary had a ........

Where were 'you' the first time you heard that one?

Mrs. Mary Dooley

She taught science to many of us at Roosevelt, then substituted at CHS while we were there.  Mrs. Dooley started her teaching career as Miss Hanna, when we were in 7th grade.  We had no idea that teachers had boyfriends and got married.  Who knew?!

Here's Mrs. Dooley today.  This picture was taken in Beijing, China.  Notice her t-shirt ...  Horace Mann Eagles.
