Ford B. Davis Jr., 58, of Charleston departed this life
on Thursday, May 24, 2007.
Born April 2, 1949, in Charleston, he was a graduate of
Charleston High School where he was credited for his athleticism, which
included football, basketball and track. He then furthered his education
and athletics at Schenck Job Corps. He later retired from the city of
Charleston after 36 years of dedicated service. He was also employed by
Charleston Newspapers. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Queenie M. Davis;
father, Ford B. Davis Sr.; and grandmother, Virginia Davis.
He leaves to treasure his precious memories: his
daughters, Rosalind Brandon and son-in-law, Manny Brandon, both of
Fayetteville, N.C., Angela Davis of Newport News, Va., Lemmie Davis of
Pataskala, Ohio, and DeNeisha Davis of Charleston; his sons, Ford Davis
III, Johnathan Davis, Tyrell Davis and Antwon Davis, all of Charleston;
his grandchildren, LaRosha and Neisha Brandon, both of Fayetteville, N.C.,
Shaquan and Hydeia Ragin, both of Newport News, Va., Julian and Nadia
Davis, both of Charleston and Keashia and Miasia Davis, both of Pataskala,
Ohio; one great-granddaughter; his mother and stepfather, Delores and
Homer McKenzie of Cleveland, Ohio; stepmother, Wanda Davis of Charleston;
his brothers, Major Davis of Huntington, Larry Thomas of Charleston and
Andre Davis and sister-in-law, Mercedes Davis, of Sumter, S.C.; a host of
nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts; and many caring friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 1, at New Covenant
Baptist Church with James Ealy officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the
church.
