Phillip Shawn Kenney,
57, of Charleston died January 6, 2007, in St. Francis Hospital after a
long illness.
Born November 29, 1949, he was a son of the late William
Thomas and Geraldine Kenney.
Phil graduated from Charleston High School in 1967 and
attended West Virginia State College. He served his country for four years
in the Navy in Vietnam and earned several medals. He was a member the
Fraternal Order of Eagles in Charleston. Phil was a true gentleman and was
a truly caring and giving man. He was always a jokester and a trivia buff
who enjoyed making people smile. He loved doing karaoke, especially “The
Monster Mash.” That was the crowd's favorite. His zest for life should
be envied by all.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Kenney; son, Shawn
Christopher of Charleston; stepson, Scott and his wife, Christine, of
Charleston, stepdaughters Jessica Whitlock and her husband, David, of East
Bend, N.C., and Jamaica Smithson and her husband, Mike, of Charleston; a
very special aunt, Gynith Lewis of Charleston; cousin, Renee Bevino of
North Charleston; and many other family and friends.
Honoring Phil's wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial
service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, at Tyler Mountain
Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes.
