Robert Thomas Peden


Robert Thomas “Tom” Peden, 60, of Charleston died peacefully at home,
surrounded by his family and friends, on January 19, 2010. 
He attended Maranatha Fellowship Church, St. Albans, and was a 1967
Charleston High School graduate.  He attended Morris Harvey College and Mitchell
College in North Carolina.  After working for 15 years in Clendenin with his
father at Bob Peden Chevrolet, Tom and his family moved to Ripley in 1985,
where he started his own auto dealership, Tom Peden Inc., later known as Tom
Peden Country. 
Tom was a member of the Mountaineer Athletic Club and a Mountaineer
Football and Basketball enthusiast.  He was also a loyal supporter of several
Jackson County community programs throughout the years.  In addition he loved the
outdoors, playing golf and hunting.  He particularly enjoyed spending time
with his family and watching his son play sports.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy King Peden; sister, Janie
Peden; and brother, William Ray Peden. 
Tom is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ginger Peden of Charleston;
daughters and a son-in-law, Ashley Peden of Charleston and Sarah
Peden-Higginbotham and Beau of Baltimore, Maryland; son, Thomas Peden, a student at WVU;
father, Robert L. Peden of Charleston; brother, Paul “PJ” Peden of
Charleston; and nieces, Jennifer Egbert-Kibler and Pamela Egbert-Holland, both of
Huntington. 
A service to honor the life of Robert Thomas “Tom” Peden will be held at 1
p.m. Friday, January 22, at Maranatha Fellowship Church, St. Albans, with
Pastor James R. Wright Jr. officiating. 
Family and friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the church.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone and
especially to Pastor James R. Wright Jr., Pastor Terry Hogue, Danny McFarland,
Charlie Slack, HospiceCare, David Lee Cancer Center and Dr. Ahmed Khalid for
their kindness, care, prayers, encouragement and support during this difficult
time. 
Tom will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. 
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Maranatha
Fellowship Church, 2910 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, WV 25177.
